Tonight’s MYSQL Meetup has been cancelled due to folks having some issues with the location. I talked to David Dilbeck, the local organizer, today, and we’re interesting in finding out where a good meeting place is for local MySQLers. So, if you are in the area, please join in the discussion and vote for a good place.
However, the Columbus PHP Meetup next Thursday is still on, and looks to have a good group of people coming. It’s at the North Market, in the Short North area, and if that turns out to be a good venue, I’ll suggest it to David and the MySQl Meetup group… Hope to see a lot of faces next Thursday!
David and I also talked about possibly organizing a regional Meetup (say, every 6 months) with MySQLers from the following cities in the region (all within about 2 hours from Columbus:
- Cleveland, OH
- Cincinnati, OH
- Dayton, OH
- Indianapolis, IN
- Pittsburgh, PA
Are you in one of the above cities? Would you be interested in a regional meetup where you could meet lots of developers, open source advocates. and MySQL users? More than likely, myself and another MySQL employee would give presentations on things you wanted to hear about (Performance Tuning? Optimization? Cluster? Replication? The GUI Tools? Whatever you want!) So, let me know, or let your local MySQL meetup group know. We’re listening and want your input!
